42 Cute as a Button Baby Shower Ideas You'll Love - MightyMoms.club

Several months ago I was asked why there aren’t any party planning posts for baby showers. After all, the Birthday Series continues to be one of our most popular series!

The reason is simple, really… I didn’t think of it. *blush*

Never. Even. Occurred to me.

You subscribers.

You’re the true brains of this whole outfit.

In your honor, I humbly submit this: our very first baby shower theme post. The first of many.

  1. Mini-Quiches—I’m a fan of this recipe. Don’t punish yourself with a regular mini-muffin pan. This silicone one makes clean-up so much easier.
  2. Tea Sandwiches—Nothing says “Special Party” like tea sandwiches. I’m sure the Queen approves of this Gouda and Tomato version.
  3. Pinwheels—These look waaaaay fancier than they really are. Bonus: you can make them ahead and bake them off at the last moment.
  4. Cheese Balls—It’s a giant button, surrounded by tiny buttons (Ritz crackers). Seriously, you can’t take this theme too far. There’s this jalapeño version for a kick, or, if mom-to-be is suffering from reflux, try a tamer Cheddar Bacon Ranch.
  5. Sandwich Cheats—I love this idea for a clever cheat. Purchase a few boxes of Uncrustables (Strawberry, Grape, or Hazelnut Spread) and then place a few sixlets on top to pull off the button effect.
  6. Finger Foods Buttons—Cut everything into round shapes. Apples, carrots, cucumbers, summer sausage…a very clever idea!
  7. BLT Roll-Ups—Pretty to look at, even tastier to eat.

8 Delicious Desserts Perfect for a

Savory snacks are great, but…

The desserts are what makes a party.  Here are five sweet suggestions to stir up your imagination.

Pick one, pick all! (Of course, if you do “pick all,” I wouldn’t mind an invite…*feet shuffling*)

  1. Milk & Pastries—Nothing goes with a plate of sweet pastries like an old-fashion jar of milk! Copy this idea by using these adorable milk jars, wrapped with yarn and a glued-on button and topped with a striped straw.
  2. Sophisticated Marshmallow Treats—I really like this recipe using honeycomb cereal. Don’t they look like buttons?!
  3. Shortbread Cookies—I thought this was a really clever idea. You just need a delicious shortbread recipe and a button to press into the dough and remove before baking.
  4. Cake Pops—Doesn’t this look so fancy-pancy? Just follow the directions here, and then use your silicone button mold and these directions to create the buttons to scatter on top!
  5. Macarons—Nothing is easier than having someone else create something spectacular!
  6. Coraline Cookies—A little peanut butter, a topping of chocolate, and you’re left with a few crumbs and satisfied smiles.
  7. Button Cupcakes—Whip up your favorite cupcake recipe and buttercream frosting, then sprinkle on a few sugar pearls and make these fondant buttons as a fantastically special treat.
  8. Tiered Button CakeElevate a standard layer cake with the use of your silicone button mold, a few spools of thread and extra long candles.

13 Dashing Decoration Tips for a
Cute as a Button Baby Shower

Obviously you’ll want to have a few “this is a party and not a PTA-meeting” decorations sprinkled around the room.

  1. Personalized Water Bottles—The delight is in the details. Details like these personalized water bottles. (Bonus: They also happen to match these invitations.)
  2. Button ConfettiUse this simple paper punch to create colorful confetti on the gift and buffet table.
  3. Hanging “Ribbons”Hang special fringed streamers behind the gift and buffet table to hide picture frames and other wall decor that conflicts with your Cute as a Button Baby Shower theme.
  4. Button BadgesHighlight the family-to-be with these handmade ribbons.
  5. Country Wreath & GarlandA sweetly whimsical decoration idea from Little Umbrella. Create your own burlap wreath with this base, a glue gun, and a few fake flowers. You can recreate the garland with your trusty paper punch, twine, and colorful cardstock.
  6. A Crafty CenterpieceIsn’t this button flower centerpiece adorable? You’ll need some small white metal buckets (weighed down with rocks on the bottom and buttons on top), dowel rods, foam centers, yarn to glue on the spheres, and assorted buttons to glue on top of the yarn.
  7. Clean-Up-Friendly Paper GoodsOr, if the thought of crafting something gives you a headache, you could always “cheat” and purchase a decorating packet! Here’s one for girls and one for boys.
  8. Personalized VotivesA sweet little reminder of this special day. It also makes a great gift for guests, or a memory-box keepsake for baby!
  9. Large Ceiling GarlandI love this playful idea of a large hanging ceiling garland. Recreate it with some pastel paper plates, using the leftover dowel rods (from #6) to poke holes in them. Thread them with colored craft ribbon and string them up with twine.
  10. Framed Ultrasound PictureDisplay the baby’s first photo in this adorable button frame.
  11. Chair DecorationsAren’t these chair decorations precious? Personally, I would probably tie one scissor on the back with ribbon (they can have the scissor as a gift), and hang a few tiny pompoms and other dangly ribbons with buttons glued on them from strips of measuring tape. (Three scissors per chair is going to be pricey!)
  12. Wrapped NapkinsCopy this idea with thick linen napkins, scrapbook paper, ribbon, and glued-on assorted buttons.
  13. Button-Filled Flower ArrangementMartha recommends nesting two glass vases together, and filling the outer vase with white buttons and filling the inner vase with water and roses.
